Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Lindile Ntsabo, welcomed Western Cape Premier Alan Winde in the Overstrand earlier today, 3 May 2023.
Premier Winde and members of his Provincial Cabinet are busy with the Premier’s Cycle Tour in the Overberg.
During the 3-day tour, the Premier and his team will promote cycling safety and will also be handing over bicycles to various schools in the area.
Talking to the traffic, law enforcement and police officials who conducted an integrated roadblock along the R43 at the Sandbaai intersection, the Premier said we must all pull together to build a safer society.
“People must know: the rules are the rules; Visitors must realise that in this Province, you abide by the law,” he stated.
In her short welcoming speech, Mayor Rabie said the Premier is such an inspiration to all of us for looking after his health and doing exercise as part of his daily routine.
She concluded by reminding residents of the First Thursday event on 4 May in Hermanus where they can meet Premier Winde and his Cabinet in person, to discuss challenges and/or to raise any concerns that is not the mandate of local government.
